Message from our Chief Executive Officer
Thank you for taking the time to read our Autumn Newsletter, we’ve included some great offers to help Members during these tough economic times.
I would like to update all Members on the Foundations progress with regard to new technology-based services and our support for Members during the recession.
The Foundation is currently working with Health New Zealand to upgrade its connected health information services, including NHI, Clinical Coding and other Secure Fast Health Interoperable Resource (FHIR) based Application Programming Interface (API) systems. Soon after these are complete, the Foundation is expected to launch its new Medical Alerting Clinical Management (MACM) Portal, which will allow every Member to login directly to their own account, or manage and update accounts online for their dependents.
We will let you know in the months ahead, when the Portal goes live. You will need a Health New Zealand ‘My Health Account’ Login to access the new Portal. If you already have a ‘My Health Account’ Login, this will automatically work in the new Portal. To get ready and sign up please go to: https://identity.health.nz This technology is well advanced and currently being used by the Foundations staff.
On the economic front, the Foundation has taken drastic steps to reduce its spending, in light of the impact the double dip recession has been having on our Members and therefore the Foundation. Over the past year our staffing level has reduced from 18 down to 11, as a result of unpaid Membership Service Fees. Reducing our costs has allowed us to continue to support thousands of Members during these tough times.
If your fees are overdue, we would now be most grateful to hear from you as soon as possible. Provision of Services including our Membership Services Department have been impacted, we would like to bring on more staff again, as soon as Members are able to catch up on their unpaid fees.
To all those who are donating to assist the Foundation at this time, thank you kindly for your generosity. Remember all donations over $5.00 are tax deductible, just let us know you intend to claim your tax deduction and a receipt will be issued. This approach helps us keep increasingly expensive postage costs to a minimum.
We have exciting times ahead, stay well. We look forward to hearing from you and your continued support to prevent harm and save kiwis lives across New Zealand and Internationally.
